But if in time take care of the necessary documents - the process of obtaining Russian visa is much easier than getting an American or British visas for Russians.

List of required documents:

Passport (check validity - the date of departure + 6 months)
2 pictures
Payment receipt consular fee
Health Insurance

1) Invitation (Tourist Invitation or Visa Support) - is an Invitation issued by a travel agency that has a reference number - given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a Voucher, confirming the payment of hotel accommodation or apartments. That is what is usually called visa support(issued on one sheet). To obtain a tourist visa to Russia usually you don't need an original of Invitation and printed from the computer is enough. The only European country requiring fax an invitation to Russia sending by fax is France. To obtain a business visa you will need the original, which can be obtained by paying the extra postage.

If in your city or nearby there is a Russian consulate, you can submit documents personally.

3) Be attentive - period of validity of your passport should come to an end not earlier, than in 6 months after your departure.

4) Prepare 2 photos (as on the passport).

5) Pay the consular fee. Its size depends on the consulate and the timing of production of a visa.

6) Find out in the Russian Consulate or from your travel agent about requirements for health insurance. It is not required for visitors from Europe or USA, otherwise it's better to check.

Arrived to Russia, do not forget to register your visa.
